Wiki Overhaul II: Help is needed

There are now many changes in blocks and crafting, prices to blocks selling and buying. Are someone working with updating to 0.7.2? Maybe do an export from Unity containing the blocks and info and pictures, to a Wiki mod with time?
I lack motivation to become a W.M.

Honestly, I think it might be best to wait till the game is fully released. Until then, the game will probably change a ton, and we will have to redo the things we already did.

I mean, I'm all for giving people access to useful information, but the reason I stopped is because it takes up a ton of time. Having to do it every time there is a major update doesn't help that, not to mention the massive backlog of other stuff we have yet to change...

..., and the lack of people helping out. The reason I got that Gamepedia award way back when is because me and MNSweet were the only ones working on the wiki, so we had to make tons of assets, make hundreds of edits, lots of new pages. That was many updates ago, and the game has since changed, making most of those out dated and in needing of reediting. That means hours and hours of wasted time. Frankly, I'm not paid to do it, and there are other ways I would rather spend my free time.

I can help if any one needs it, but I don't really see the point right now. I think it's better to answer questions on the forums for now, since anyone can do that. Once the game is released, there will probably be a new group of people that will join in, and maybe the devs will have the time to help in their own ways.

Another option is for people who are interested in editing the wiki put a post here and we will see if we can get a team together so it does not fall back on one or two people.

Cool you are first on the list of contacts, I will try to get 3 or 4 people (at least) so it is not such a big task. @Pink Kitty I don't know if you are interested in getting involved again with the wiki.

There's also that slack thing from way back when, with people from other gamepedias. People could use that to get advice from people who know way more about it than I do.

If anyone knows how to code in Gamepedia, the Crafting Tab Table needs an overhaul. It is still using the format of the previous crafting system, and it doesn't display all the materials used.

I tried to code it, but I failed.

OK now we have a few people we can get started. @streak1 @Sylver @Baconus_Yum @Vaculity @OmegaRogue @Mindl3ss , I do not know anything about wiki editing so if you guys can come together and nominate someone to head things at the beginning and guide others to get started. @streak1 I do think you would be best at this as you have done this before but I know you may not want to take too much on but if you could help others get started it would be much appreciated.

Went ahead and changed the Crafting page to use table format.. until someone manages to make a Template for the new crafting.

The rest of this thread is littered with various tips on wiki editing, so that's a start. I'll have to play the game some to get a feel for the latest crafting system, though I'm not very good at making templates.

For new templates lets try to edit the already existing templates to make them looks like we want

In the process of making icons for the new blocks. There are a ton of them, so it might take a bit. I might make a list of them to check if there are any missing. Not sure how many of the Hawkeye ones are in the wiki.


Not sure what to do with the new crafting template right now. I think it should look and function just like the one in game, but I'm not really sure how to do that. It's not as simple as editing pre-existing templates, unless we want to make a ton of templates that are complicated to use. Though, unless they decide to something extreme to the crafting recipes, I think a template like that would be pretty future-proof.

The one in the block infobox we already have won't work, since most recipes use more than 5 resources, so it's probably best to just remove it from there and make it it's own section for the various block pages. Of course, that means editing every single block page to add that section, but we would have to edit all the pages anyway.

I went to take a look at the codings for the Infobox. Can't help but notice the coding style is the older version. If the version is new it would be easier (instead of {} it would be <>)

Then again, I only done this in Wikia, so idk if it will work in Gamepedia.
