When I start a new game, I usually make a front wide enough to have two plows beside eachother for easy scooping. It also makes it possible to have all the lasers and machine guns at the front. It's effective to make an aggresive front now that lasers can aim to the left and right.

hahaha same here man i found out that ones your a little bigger it's a good idea to lose the frond wheels and have your frond vehicle drag the shovels around that helps with holding it all in place and not letting the blocks slide under you and saves some parts  but yeah almost the same thing and almost every time i start up with the same idea it just works that good don't see a reason to do it some other way for now :p
