The Improved R&D test chamber

Welcome to the Improved R&D test chamber thread!
This map adds the following to the already existing R&D test chamber:

- 4 new turrets in the turret lane and one very strong "boss" turret, no wait scratch that, it even has an extra superboss turret at the very end! (100% guarantee that every turret has been placed by using an excessive amount of OCD ;))

All 4 new turrets scale up slowly the same way the regular R&D turrets do, and after that this map has 2 boss turrets to even satisfy the players with the strongest techs.


- A satisfying new end to the turret lane

- An even larger bomb (This thing can really blow your mind when you attack it with very strong weapons)

- An even larger target (this one is huge and is perfect for long-distance shooting, it's also ideal when you want to launch a tech into the target for whatever reason)

- The brick 2.0 (this thing usually lasts more than 10 times longer than the normal brick! The inside of this brick might even last longer than the outside haha)
(this thing is now part of the regular R&D test chamber because the devs liked it a lot :eek:)

- A strong tech charger directly behind spawn (ideal for charging even the largest techs)

- 4 new bolt turrets including 2 hovering turrets (this basically creates a second turret lane but with bolt-turrets this time!)

- A boss bolt turret!

- A resource field near spawn! (large enough to satisfy even the largest factories!)

- The normal R&D dynamite stick got fixed (no more cab sticking out!). Don't worry, it still explodes exactly the same way!

Planned features:
Possibly add small factory techs near spawn (where the old ones were)
(tech submissions for these are very welcome)

I've spent a lot of hours building and testing everything I can think of in this map, and I'd be happy to spent even more time on it. So please provide feedback and/or ideas if you have any after testing this map! (leaving a like if this map helped you in any shape, way or form is also appreciated) :D

P.s. usually I try to update the main post with the newest versions of the map, but if you want to be sure that you have the newest version of this map it's suggested to always download it from the newest (or in other words: bottom) post in this thread

Hello everyone!
Now quite a lot of Better Future content has released, I decided to improve some things in this map again!


Instead of replacing the old version in the main post, I'll place the new version download in this post just incase this version has a few issues I didn't see.

Changelog:
- Increased the distance between the bombs, bricks, targets etc. This should create a little bit less lag.
- Increased the distance between all bolt turrets. This should reduce the lag a bit too and this way its harder to trigger multiple turrets at the same time.
- Improved the Venture bolt turret (it looks a lot nicer now)
- Improved the Hawkeye bolt turret (this one also looks nicer now)
- The octuple hover bolt turrets fly much higher in the air now, making it a lot harder to destroy.

And last but not least:
The ultimate turret at the end of the improved turret lane has been upgraded again!
The ultimate turret's cars deploy faster and thus makes them more likely to survive longer.
The ultimate turret's hover techs fly much higher in the air making them a lot harder to destroy
The deployed hover techs use BF ion drives now, the enemy AI can now like... actually fly these techs.
The deployed cars have slightly better armor now and the cab placement has also been improved a little.

This map has been showcased 5 times in a row in the comcore now!
I want to thank everyone that gave me useful feedback and new ideas for this map, and ofcourse the devs too for using this map hehe.

I will likely continue improving this map in the future,
I also want to build one gigantic Better Future swarm turret, but I'll wait until BF batteries and/or shields (and possibly rotating anchors) etc come out, because I dont want to rebuild the entire thing from scratch when new stuff comes out haha.

And don't forget that new ideas and suggestions to improve existing things are always welcome!

Ask the devs to properly add it to the game, instead of as a save file. Maybe as an alternative R&D Chamber to use. Wait... They need to do that. Specialised R&D Chambers, i.e. sample terrain world, resource world, enemy spawning world, long range target practice world, Venture themed racing/stunting world (think skate park, but for vehicles), etc.

Anyways I did make and finish a BF bolt turret almost 2 weeks ago but I didn't really get a chance to update the map due to a whole bunch of internet issues at home. My internet got fixed yesterday and I'll probably update this map tomorrow for the comcore.
I won't list a full changelog just yet but to summarize all the changes: I updated a lot of existing turrets. Especially the octuple hover turret got a major overhaul

Please do not post things that make no sense and/or are unrelated jokes / memes on this thread.

What happened there, what turret is this and how did this happen?
I would like some more information about this post so I could fix this (if it's even an issue haha)

Perfection... But wait, We need some more of those example anchored bases!
I'm not sure if I should add more of those example 'bases' near spawn, what do you guys think?
On the one hand they are completely unneeded and maybe I should just remove them all to reduce lag,
but on the other hand if I build new and better versions they could help other players.
I'm not sure what to do yet, so for now I'll just keep them the way they currently are.

Yeah I'd honestly love to see some of the stuff from this enhanced R&D map in the regular version.
For example the extra large target, the extra bolt turrets (except maybe the hover turrets cuz those are way overkill haha) and the 5 extra turrets on the turret lane would be amazing to have in the normal R&D version.
(I do think the bomb 2.0 and the Chemperor (the final turret) and maybe the improved charger probably shouldn't be in the normal R&D versions because those techs lag way too much haha)

I do think extra versions of the R&D map would be nice to see, but I won't go over that in this thread (yet)

I updated a bunch of stuff in the map again and added a new Better Future exploding bolt turret! ( the current bolt turret lane
now is: GSO -> Venture -> Hawkeye -> Better Future -> 4x hover turret -> 8x hover turret

as a sidenote: why is it so hard to make a good looking better future tech, almost every single BF tech I make ends up looking like a super smooth boiled egg facepalmkris.
Don't worry I do think this BF bolt turret looks pretty good now ;p

One last thing, I did some damage testing with this turret and it's quite powerful (especially against shields) but not really as powerful as I'd like, what do you guys think of this new bolt turret?

Hello everyone! I finally finished a new version of the improved R&D test chamber!
Because I used quite a few mods to alter already existing things in the chamber, this savefile might not work for regular players, thus it would be nice if someone could confirm if it actually works or not.

Changelog:
- Placed the entire explosive bolt turret lane on a different spot and increased the distance between each turret
this greatly reduces all lag in the entire map
- Removed all the small factories near spawn (for now), because they were completely useless. (if anyone wants to submit new factories to replace the old ones, please do. (keep it simple btw))
- Placed a ton of resource veins etc. behind the terratech sign (please tell me what you think of this addon, I myself am not completely sure if it looks all that great.)
- Gave some minor edits to the existing explosive bolt turrets
- Once again upgraded the Octuple hover bolt turret to make up for the Flying fortress Hover nerf
- This time I also gave the quad hover bolt turret some love! it's quite a bit stronger now
- Removed the small charger near spawn because it simply wasn't needed anymore
