Strange humming noise?

    So I just started the game back up after about a year or two, and I'm hearing this deep rumble/humming noise coming from some pillars in the desert. It hums for about 5 seconds, then repeats. What is this?

    This should be normal. If you are near a "monument", it will generate a strange humming sound that creeps me out and makes me leave.

    Nope, only there as a part of the game (like the clouds in the sky)

    Yeah, the monument drums. I think they brilliantly atmospheric, but I really wish they would shut up after a while near them, to let you build around them. And be handy if the sound effect stopped when the game paused and tabbed out too - bug report.

    @Skyfry428 - I've moved this thread to the "Open" sub-forum, since it turns out it's not related to an unstable build. (Please people, tell me if I'm getting to finicky.:rolleyes:)

    Stable build bugs go in 'bugs'.
    unstable bugs in 'unstable.'

    Not that it's a big deal.

    Have I made a mistake? My reading of this thread is that the top post was talking about the monuments making their well known sound. So it's really a question; no bugs (so I moved it). Is that what you were looking at @Skyfry428: a big, isolated structure? Or are you talking about the 'Pillars' Biome? (As depicted below.) Because these pillars should be silent, best as I know.

    If you think that's bad, SCP: Containment Breach does the same thing with its incidental PA system and other noises, which are very loud.
