America is a continent consisting of 2 continents
Change my mind
No, America is simply the name for the continent that contains the same areas as both North America and South America (as well as Central America, meaning 3 continents' areas). It doesn't contain continents, but it does contain the areas that are identified as individual continents.
Compare this to Eurasia. It is the name given to the continent that is sometimes used to represent the areas of Europe and Asia combined. It isn't a continent that contains both of those continents, it is just sharing the same area.
Simpler example: Oceania and Australia. Australia is often called a continent, due to it being huge compared to all other landmasses near it, but it is also a part of Oceania. In fairness, Oceania is an odd continent, as it is very spread out, but the point is still there.
