Okay so the radar is nice, however the rings sometimes are very indistinct. Especially on salt flats where the radar is almost the same color as the terrain.

Yeah, I had to stage this screen shot (on the salt flats) by placing another object behind the mini-map.

Also, the circles aren't quite at nice divisions (of 50, 100, etc, meters).

Yeah and the tech tags even if you're near the show up a lot. I wish there was an option to select different kinds of tags.

A simple solution for the Devs would be to simply add a more opaque background to the radar, and make the rings have a high contrast to the background.

Hmm, it looks like the radar backsplash (rings and blue transparent part) seems to be sized a bit smaller than it should be...
Looks like the Radar backsplash needs to be bigger so that it is more accurate.

This has been explained several times before. I can't be bothered to find and quote it right now, but the rings on the radar are to do with the detection ranges of the AI.
I do remember that the innermost ring is the attack radius.

Well, I've seen it posted a few times, like here (also from @Legionite, actually, heh):
One thing I know for sure:

(Might be out of date)
But I'm not sure I've ever seen (or heard) any devs confirm that this is the intention. (And I've encountered a couple of patently wrong beliefs about the radar mini-map, already.)
