How to do block animations and textures for modding tool?

I’m working on my first custom block (a weapon), and I have the model nearly finished in Blender. All I lack is to figure out animations and textures.

The animation is a custom one I’ll be making in Blender. Without giving too much away, the animation basically involves part of the block rising upwards, stopping at a certain point, and then beginning to spin a few parts around. I would like this to be the warm-up animation, and then while firing I want the spinning animations to continue. When no longer firing, I want the parts to return to their original positions. How do I use the modding tool to make sure these animations play out how I’d like them to?

The other thing I need to figure out is textures. Do I need to manually color parts of my model in Blender before exporting? If not, how do I make sure base and trim colors go where I want them to be in the modding tool?

For texturing, you need to do something called UV unwrapping. This is taking every face of your model, and spreading it out onto a 2D surface. Do some quick googling of "Blender UV unwrap" or similar; should get you started!

Custom animations aren't yet supported by the Modding Tools, just the default recoil animation for meshes attached to the _recoiler component of your gun prefab.

Aww, that’s too bad. Thanks for letting me know, though!
