Hi guys!

We're looking to track down some frame rate/optimisations issues we've been having recently. There are a large amount of reports coming in from players and we want to attempt to whittle them down in order to find what needs to be fixed sooner.

Here are a list of things that get brought up when we receive drops in frame rate reports.

A: Poor frame rate is an issue that comes and goes.
B: Poor frame rate is a constant issue when playing TerraTech.
C: Poor frame rate is an issue that occurs when ____.

Below, can you reference which issue you feel applies to your personal experience, your computer specs and which options you have turned on/off.

Each post should look something like this;

C - Poor frame rate is an issue that occurs when it is night time.

Processor: Intel (R) Core(TM) i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz 2.30GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 8GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
OS: Windows 8.1

Graphics Options
Resoultion: 1024x768
Quality: Fastest
Depth of Field: Off
High Dynamic Range: On
Ambient Occlusion: On
Full Screen: Off
Anti-aliasing: On
Gamma: 10%
Draw Distance: 100%

Processor: intel i3 3240 @3.4ghz/core

Installed Memory (RAM): 8GB

1 framerate when large numbers of blocks loose on ground from defeated techs (btw worst offenders are brick (loves to scatter blocks over a huge area on death)
2 framerate when many bases with techs spawn (reduce the numbers of bases spawning at a time could be a quick fix)
3 crashes due to running out of ram(does not happen anywhere as much on 64 bit windows) now averaging approx 10 min between crashes and game takes approx 5 min to load back to save from desktop
4 slow loading

I have been waiting for this thread to happen.

CPU- Phenom II quad core 3.4ghz
RAM- 1oGb of DDR3 @1366mhz
GPU- AMD 7970 2GB
Win 7 64bit Ultimate
Resolution 1366x768

Game settings
Everything off except fullscreen.
Draw distance set to minimum and graphics set to fastest.

I always get lag when I build my monsters and sometimes get lag because of too many small techs in the same area at once while in R&D.

When in the main game too many lights at night, too many enemies and or enemy bases at one time and also as my tech gets bigger the game will start to lag.

Recently I have been having an issue with some of my bigger techs not being available in the shop to order. I now have three of them that I am pissed about not being able to get them out of the R&D and into the main game.

In the last few updates there has been frequent little stutters when moving the camera around in the R&D and in the main game. It happens no matter how much is going on in the game.

Hope it helps

Have a good one

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4108 MHz
RAM: 8GB DDR3 935 MHz
Graphics: Nvidia GTX550 Ti 1 GB
SO: Windows 7 64

Graphics options:
Resolution: 1600x900
Quality: Fantastic
High Dynamic Range.
Ambient Occlusion
Anti-aliasing
Draw Distante: Max.

I have a heavy drop of FPS:
During day
- when a lot of weapons (50+) are firing at the same time.
During night
- when some venture enemies appears.
- when I uses lots of light or bubbles.

Intel i7 920 @ 2.66
11GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 4GB
Windows 10 x64

1920x1080
Good
Everything but depth of field enabled
Max draw distance

AI modules--I notice an immediate drop in frame rate as soon as I build the harvester drone. More AI=less fps. Doesn't matter if they're on a tech or a turret.

Mortars--Mortars kill frame rate dead.

Can you format this post the same way as everyone else please? Need to make sure I get the info we need.

EDIT: I have recently upgraded my machine with some more ram and outer software optimizations so an update should be required.

C: Night time is no longer an issue but I still get FPS issues when building behemoths (max build limits) or techs with too much lights or when firing more than 2-3 megatons (the explosions do cause 3-10second freezes, not the firing itself).

Also might help if I say I'm running the latest .6 unstable branch

Example of stuttering issue. Note that it occurs regardless of tech or location. Started in new game and has continued since. Also noticed this behavior in Zisteau's recent TerraTech videos and assumed it was a recording thing but it happens in my game when not recording as well.

I'll also add that I happens with my R9 280 3GB also

C - Poor frame rate is an issue that occurs when played 10 hours or so of a new Story, all quests done and did some exploring, when the world have stated to become populated by enemy techs/bases, where have a small base and a few techs (+ 1 guard AI). If have a large base with resources then even worse. Also increased lag when fighting larger techs with many weapons. V0.5.21.0

Processor: Intel (R) Core(TM) E6850 Dual 3.0 GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 8GB 4x 2GB PC3-1600 MHz
System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Additional info

Newest drivers and patches and so on.
GPU: XFX5970BE
MB: ASUS Maximus Extreme I
Monitor: ASUS PB278Q (2K)
SSD (OS), SSHD (Data/Games)
Almost idle CPU before loading TerraTech. 3GB RAM taken by OS++.

jamie, I have 2.1gb of crashes on the my flamer computer that have been rared to only 2.1mb, all the crashes were sent from in game. is there somewhere you want the rar emailed/posted?
btw it is currently taking longer to load the game than I get to play in story mode, and have noticed the free ram decreasing to approx 50mb (before loading the free ram is approx 1.4gb-2gb)

Don't know how much work it would be but a benchmark mode would probably be a good idea. Something to automatically collect system info and run a set path through a pre-created, populated map while collecting framerate stats.

This isn't regarding computer specs, but I'm having issues with the refinery. it's unable to take in any blocks regardless how I set it up. i have heard that this is a temperamental issues as the game is still in beta.

Yorkshire Dales under a rock.
C - Any time there are large amounts of anything on screen or nearby (loaded chunks?) for example in some of the bases I have built I stockpile fuel resources and once you get a couple of tractor-pad/silos full I see noticeable slow down, there doesn't seem to be an issue with physical interaction of blocks/resources (eg blocks held on a tractor pad), but if many techs get mashed together I get serious slow down. Also AI causes slowdown, especially large rotating turrets/bases. ((And major chug when the 0.5.21.1 explosives go off (especially in the main menu screen)))

Also when I talk about slowdown above I don't mean specific framerate issues, as I have no way to check framerate in game, but the PC definitely tanks with the above situations!

Processor: AMD Phenom II x6 1055T @~2.8Ghz (Stock)
Installed Memory (RAM): 8GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
OS: Windows 10 Home (10.0, b10586)

High Dynamic Range: Off
Ambient Occlusion: Off
Full Screen: Off
Anti-aliasing: On
Gamma: ~10%
Draw Distance: 100%

GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 760 (2Gb IIRC)
HDD: 2x 120Gb SSD (One is OS/Programs, other has the games including Terra Tech, I also have a data drive.)

C : Frames get worse as I change the resolution to be higher and higher, and it is also worse in Fullscreen. (+I can't tab-out for some reason in Fullscreen so I play in Windowed)

My Specs:
Processor: 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7
Installed Memory (RAM): 8GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
OS: OSX Yosemite Version 10.10.5

Graphics Options
Resoultion: 1280x720
Quality: Fastest
Depth of Field: Off
High Dynamic Range: On
Ambient Occlusion: On
Full Screen: Off
Anti-aliasing: On
Gamma: 10%
Draw Distance: 100%

Is this good?
