A large Radius of "damage" just enough for crack some rocks next to each other
Sure people will use thid as a weapon , Geocorp like noo... We will make this low range , realods in 5 seconds and doesnt have any kind of aiming

    Meybe this will go worng

actually explosions are a very usual way to mine ore. used on huge mining operations.

blasting the side of a mountain/hill into oblivion then processing the loose materials is very common.
so @FoxVulpe does have a point.

blast ore deposit -> spawn a lot of material at once (but less than what you would get by drilling) -> destroys the mine.
    that could balance it

I would rather have a huge GC drilling platform. but this one seems as an interesting alternative too XD

Imagines the horror of finding some sweet sweet erudite to sell, mines it with the explody thing only for it to fly of into the render distance.

So every serious GC Tech is covered by weapons from the other Corps. Mostly due to size and weight it seems Megatons. Seems counter-intuitive for the board at GC to send out their miners without the means to protect themselves. And IMO the devs really should look at finding some aspect of mining that would work well at range (hint: "it goes bang"). The sonic cannon someone else posted in suggestions IMO would be a good choice. Can be used for mining but would work great as a short range weapon.

Also that stock of 90's FPS game was the Nailgun... That's just a re-purposed tool, no?

Re-purpose one of the straight jackhammers to shoot the chisel (the bit?) instead of retaining it, they do awesome damage and you could limit it's power by making it a slow reload... but sorry for the brief hi-jack... :D

The funny thing is that it's actually mentioned that GeoCorp is developing an explosives launcher in the description of 'carbite harvester.' Great idea! +1

actually... all this talk about mining equipment gave me an idea lol.
going to post it in a new suggestion.

but yeah. GC definitely could use some sort of explosives.

Firing the SCU Singularity toward rocks then releasing it without proper containment would do it... ;)

I like this logic. Or rather the absence of it. We need to make this happen now!

What isn't logical is using four puny lasers to generate a singularity in the first place and then being able to store (and retrieve) things in it... but crucially not resources... :/
