Out of curiosity what are the plans/hopes (details if possible! :D) for the final release as far as visuals go? Just for fun I ran the game as fast as it would go and I got to about 20x the normal speed on a somewhat decent pc, so obviously there is A LOT of room to play with as far as visual processing goes.

We definitely have a lot more ground to cover with the graphics. The style is intentionally clean and accessible, so we're not planning to go super high detail with it, but there are several areas we will be pushing during the course of development:
  • Effects - for weapons, tools, explosions, rockets etc
  • Scenery - adding more naturally occurring objects to the landscape
  • Environment - improvements to fog effects, draw distance, sky, lighting etc
  • Surfaces - making things feel tangibly different (especially vehicle blocks as we add new corporations)
We're not trying to make a game that will max out modern graphics cards (and we want to support players who don't have thousands to spend on their gaming rigs), but we'll definitely find more uses for all that spare power you have!

Isn't that why games usually have many options for the graphical settings?

So it can be a graphical power house for those who have the best machines, as well as being able to perform on the machines that don't have the best stuff.
