Filtered Block Magnet

Saying you want a filtered block magnet, what corp and grade do you want it?

This is basicly as the name shows.

What this would do, is allow you to select certain blocks you want to pick up. To select, you would right-click the Block magnet, and it will pull up every block you have discovered. Blocks you have not discovered automatically are selected as yes (and also when you haven't edited block magnet settings yet). Then, in the "block magnet inventory" you would right click on blocks you don't want. Then that block would turn fully black, like when you try to purchase something you haven't discovered. You could also do this for selecting a certain type of block (all manufacturing blocks are not picked up), or by corp (Hawkeye is only picked up). If you only want to pick up one block/block type/corp, you would shift+right click, which would turn all other blocks off. If you shift+right click again, everything will be selected again.

However useful it would be now, it might not be as useful as when the Mobile SCU comes, but it would be a good alternative until it does come. Also, the Mobile SCU will be grade 5, so it would be a better earlier game solution. It could also help scrapping bases sort blocks better.

I like the idea.
This is maybe something GeoCorp should have. With this you could select a block that you want to save and bring home for scrapping or something else. Would be nice to have. ;)

Btw on the friday stream there was some text that said that the mobile SCU will be for venture. Venture grade 5 coming soon maybe :eek:

I like the Idea and as @Zargn said, it is something for GEO.
Im my Opinion it's necessary to find an easier way to choose which blocks to pick up.

How about this:
  • The Magnet picks every Block up by default
  • If you drag a block to the magnet, the block doesn`t get picked up anymore
  • If you do this again, you recativate the Magnet again for the Block
  • You have a right-click menu where you can turn the Magnet on/off, Disable all blocks and Activate all blocks (This would have to be confirmed by the player so he doesn`t accidentally delete the settings)
  • The Settings for the Blocks get saved if you drop the Magnet or place it at another Tech (only the SCU resets the Magnet)

I think a lot of parts should have a right click menu to activate/de-activate their functions. Immagine if you could turn your battries on and off. Think of all the charging saved by not wasting your charge on your bubbles while traveling, just turning them on when you enter combat or shutting down weapon groups, to only fire say your rail guns to take a sniper shot, then turn on all your cannons and lasers when the enemy gets close to overwatch them when they charge you. Or turning off all your turrets to allow an enemy to be lured into a kill zone then switch them all back on and step back to watch the carnage.

Even base blocks should have on/off features, so you can put your SCU and Scrappers close together without them trying to fight over blocks.

as far as selective pickups, i also think there should be a selective receiver or tractor pad that alows you to pick up only specific resources, so when mining that erudite in the middle of a patch of forrest, you arent clogging you holding capacity with a bunch of wood.

Geocorp Grade 3. It would be an advanced technology, so high grade. Geocorp does not yet have a Magnet, but has scrapping capibility. Two birds, one stone.
