Thanks a cool way to set up your base of operation. Very compact. I started my base last night. I crafted about 30 filters. It is coming along. Learning as I go. This game is so addictive!

What do I set a filter up if it is before the crafting table to use it as a over flow to sell?

Erm, crafting table? Pix please. Unless you're talking about the above tech?

If you want to pull everything off the conveyor, just before the fabricator, then set the filter to "all" and have it outputting direct into a Silo, so it won't skip 1 in 3 chunks.

Thanks again. BTW The base is up and running. Made 1M in BB last night. Need to build a flier to find a salt flat now. This game is awesome!

Is there a certain order that you need to put the component factory when crafting anythings. Or do you have to look up the components first, then go to the component factory?

Well, they need to be between your Silos and Fabricator (unless you have a looped conveyor). You'll need 1 CF per level of the max level component the block you are making requires.

And the donlges must be arranged in ascending order, so at the highest end it will need to look like this:

Once it's set up like this, the CFs should just be allocated automatically to craft components, as needed, by the Fabricator. As long as the Fab can see the output of a Refinery, up the conveyor line somewhere, too (a weird requirement, even if you have all pre-refined resources).

Thanks. Gave me a lot of info. I will set my CFs in a row tonight and try it out. Was getting so frustrated last night trying to make gso rocket launchers. It keeper making a part but not spitting it out. Just gave up. I look forward to watching more of you videos.

ZeroGravitas I was able to make what I wanted but for some reason I still had to go in and make a couple of components to finish. For more complex components is there a more advanced set up? The part that I was making was gso rocket launcher.

Did you use the design I showed above? 4 Component Factories is all you need for the highest level blocks and components, with their Dongles in order, as shown.

It's worth noting that you also need a Refinery on the line for it to work automatically. And you should remove and re-add the Fabricator after modifying the Component Factory setup at all, to avoid another bug.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys. I did remove the fabricator ans then add it back. Could the issue be that I have them on the leftside?

Nah, that might slow it down very marginally, but no real problem.

The issue was that you had no Refinery that the Fabricator could see [this bug]. I've added one in the recommended configuration (that won't ever skip resources).:

I also tweaked other parts of the setup:

(1) Made sure the Filters in front of the input Refinery couldn't jam up.

(2) Broke the main crafting loop open. If you have it looped, the AI will schedule crafting right around the loop, slowing things down. Also, if you have more than 6 CFs on the loop it will cause the game to start hanging.

Seems to work fine now, although it's slow because of the long fetch distance; try to move the Component Factory line to be closer to the Refined resource storage.

Have fun and good luck with further crafting endeavours! :)

Fixed the issue with the crafting. Thanks again. Just followed your instructions @ZeroGravitas. Now going to work on making it a shorter run. Any ideas? Do I really need raw materials?Could stack them?

The easiest fix would have been to simply add one conveyor belt to the right of the top-left solar panels, and one below (towards the bottom of the image from) the existing refinery, so the right-most resource silos can (also) directly send resources to the refinery, I think. And it would also create a loop the resources could take.

The issue seems to be that you were planing for the resources to go through some silos to get to their destination. That is not recommended, instead you should plan for only the conveyor belts to move resources towards their destination.

Fabricators and Component Factories use the silos only as input for resources, and the silos use the conveyor belts as inputs for getting new resources to stack.
