It's not ideal, but already the build beam circle of light [EDIT: camera's focus point] is centered on the tech's COM. Imprecise and only 2 dimensional, of course.

That's just the center of the tech, not necessarily the center of mass though, right?( I had assumed )
I think that centre is mass weighted, for both the BB and the camera's focus. You can make a long, light weight protusion on a little heavy tech and it doesn't move out to the middle by total width. Not certain it's precisely the COM, though.

The dot from the Build beam is the Center of Footprint, Center of mass is thrown of by non symmetric parts (like Factory components).

Some of us have been asking for a Center of mass indicator, as well as "Variable weight Trim Blocks" To help correct the Com to either a grid or half grid.

Camera focus = Center of mass
Build beam center = Center of footprint
How to prove: build a long line out of Venture blocks
On one side, build up/down with Hawkeye blocks
Build beam center should stay the same, but camera will change focus as you place blocks
