In larger tech the recoloring it does to show the effect makes massive lag spikes.

Heya, we're aware of the drop in frame rate when playing with the anti grav fields and we're working on optimising them. We're trying some stuff out internally, so hopefully it goes well and it'll be a bit better in a build coming soon :)

As Kae said we've noticed the drop in frame rate on larger techs. Some of it was the material pulsing it does some was the actual anti grav code. Both of those have been heavily optimised now and in the next unstable should be much much faster (potentially twice the FPS if your tech is large enough). I'm still working to optimise it further so expect more news soon :)
