[1.3.5][PC] Deployed Multitechs in Multiplayer Do Not Auto-Switch to Guard Mode

I noticed this while testing a carrier multitech that deploys four AI tanks via explosive bolts -- the deployed techs show 'empty' on their status beacons, or on rare occasions switch to 'idle' mode, but never 'guard' mode. In single-player creative, these same techs automatically switch to 'Guard' mode as soon as they're deployed, without fail.
