@ZeroGravitas As far as I'm aware, these weren't removed. I think the only work done to the smoke effects was to fix the issue where smoke trails from missiles were misaligned.
Here we go...

The trail effects, e.g. cake block candle flames, mobile generator smoke trail, bubble power on sparkly trail, don't seem to be working in the latest stable. Here is a comparison between 0.7.6 and 0.7.7 tested with the same setup (same tech in Creative mode, graphics on Fastest, 640x400 resolution, draw distance minumum, all other graphics settings ticked off except Full Screen).

The effects are (kind of ) playing, but not making trails.

Could this be related to the elusive Refinery Smoke Bug?(still can't find it, it must have heard of my quest!)

Before, I posted a bug report on the smoke trails not showing correctly here.

It's still not fixed, but apparently it works on the new Turkey block. So I don't know why it won't work on the other blocks which had trails before.

Please fix this soon. I really need my giant plumes of smoke behind my laser staircases.

I don't think it should be merged, since the older report is from the stable.
Aw, c'mon. Let's keep this information together and minimise the number of different threads floating about. I don't think this is likely to be picked up by too many players, coming to make reports, and this is definitely a non-critical bug, that's already been logged. :)

So I'm merging this new thread, titled: "[0.7.8.4]Smoke trail effect not playing", with the old report linked above (i.e. here). Also adding "Smoke" to this old title.

:confused: But there's nothing wrong with the new content released in the (latest) unstable, right? As you say, the turkey steam is fine. You were only showing that the clarify the old, existing problems, that are present in the current stable, are also still present in the latest unstable. Right? No change.

Ideally bug reports should go in the forum section that relates to where they originate. But if it's a previously unreported bug, then it's hard to say when it appeared, so we just put it in the section related to the game version we are currently in. (If it were up to me there'd only be one "Bugs" section, because this is so confusing.)

Particle systems should be simulated in world space to give the desired effects. (Change Simulation Space value)

You can also mess with other values such as inherited velocity for more effect
