R&D, flying high speed, high attitude, click return to checkpoint, tech brake

    This issue took me back for hours for second time.
    I test balance of my flighters, and when I make them fast, and before I balance uplift and weight they climb up fast, sometimes they get far away and very high and if I click on Return to Checkpoint tech just brake apart, every block for itself.

    What are the conditions for this to happened, is it only altitude, only speed, only speed and acceleration vector or combination, or something else?
    So I know not to do it.

    It's related to distance. Being far enough away so as to be off tile (approx 1000 units form the dispensers) then selecting Return to Checkpoint, should trigger the bug.
